Laurent Ferrier and Art in Time collaborated on the creation of this new watch , designed in homage to the polar expeditions of Princes Albert I and Albert II of Monaco to the Svalbard archipelago, Norway, carried out a century apart in 1906 and 2006, respectively.
The piece, called the Classic Traveller , symbolises environmental protection and highlights the importance of taking action against climate change. The watch's design uses blue and white colours, representing the Arctic Ocean and ice, while the dial shows a polar projection centred on Svalbard, with a red dot to the south indicating Monaco, the princes' place of departure.
The dial is crafted using grand feu enamel, a handcrafted technique, and the 41 mm case is in white gold. The blue leather strap with Alcantara lining complements the refined, minimalist aesthetic of the piece. The mechanism is Laurent Ferrier’s LF 230.02 calibre, an automatic movement with an 18-carat gold micro-rotor, Côtes de Genève finish, hand-polished, and a double direct-drive escapement in silicon. This movement offers a 72-hour power reserve and allows for easy local time setting via push buttons – ideal for travellers.
Like the other seven unique pieces made for the gallery since 2020, part of the proceeds from the sale of this watch will go to the Monaco Red Cross, which supports humanitarian and cultural projects.
