The Vintage Watch Show – Tempo Passado 2024 is once again the only event of its kind in Portugal, bringing together collectors, enthusiasts and experts from all over the world. The event offers a journey through time, from historic watches from the 18th century to iconic pieces from the 1950s to 1970s, which continue to fascinate watch enthusiasts.

Organised by the DezDez Forum, an online forum for watch enthusiasts, in partnership with the Portuguese Institute of Watchmaking (IPR), the 2024 event will be segmented into three main categories, covering historical watches from the 18th century to the year 2014. However, the special focus will continue to be on wristwatches from the 1950s to the 1970s, which are usually favourites among collectors.

Categories and Exhibitors

Diversity will be one of the hallmarks of the 2024 Salon. In addition to the watches on display, the event will feature displays of handmade straps, watchmaking tools and memorabilia from major brands in the sector.

The three exhibition categories will be divided based on antiquity and the type of pieces displayed:

  1. Historic Watchmaking – Rare and unique timepieces dating from the 18th century to the early 20th century, representing the height of artisanal watchmaking and the technological milestones that shaped the industry.

  2. Vintage Watches – Iconic wristwatches from the 1950s to the 1970s that continue to captivate collectors with their classic aesthetics and mechanical innovation.

  3. Contemporary Watchmaking – Watches produced up to 2014, with a focus on bold design and limited editions, which combine watchmaking tradition with modernity and technological innovation.

Organizers' Perspectives

Lourenço Salgueiro, creator of the DezDez Forum and co-organizer, shares his enthusiasm about the growing number of people taking part in the event:

The success of the first edition showed us how united the watchmaking community is in Portugal. This year, we hope to exceed all expectations and provide an even richer experience for visitors.

Nuno Margalha, founder of IPR, highlights the educational importance of the event:

This show is more than just a place to buy and sell. It celebrates the watchmaking legacy, fosters education and promotes the sharing of knowledge between generations of watchmakers and enthusiasts.
