Author

Miguel Lino Diogo dos Santos is a mechanical engineer currently working at CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland. He holds a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering – Design and Production from the University of Coimbra, where he developed his dissertation entitled Constant Force Tri-Axial Tourbillon Watch, under the supervision of Prof. Fernando Jorge Ventura Antunes. In this work, he studied and optimized the chronometry of a mechanical watch, by combining concepts such as the tri-axial tourbillon, the double hairspring and the constant force mechanism, with CAD modeling in SolidWorks and dynamic simulations in Simulink/Matlab. With professional experience at ESRF – European Synchrotron and OGMA – Indústria Aeronáutica de Portugal, S.A., he specialized in the design and optimization of high-precision mechanical components, project management and CAE/FEA simulations for complex systems. He has several scientific publications in the field of mechanical engineering applied to research equipment.
